Secret doors, sliding between floors and a spinning round bed? Welcome to all children’s dream houses.
If you gave a five-year-old blank sheets and crayons and asked him to draw his dream house, the result would not have been so far from this house on London’s west side.
Knocks would no doubt be present – in all the colors of the rainbow.
As a habitable playground, full of exciting and fun details, children would not like to make a house that was neither beige nor boring.
There are no children behind the house called Rainbow House in London’s Kensington, but architects from Ab Rogers Design, in collaboration with DA. Studio.
According to the architects, the house is as an enchanting oasis in the heart of one of London’s busiest areas. “
A staircase in rainbow colors. Secret hatch in the floor that takes you from one room to another.
A huge pale yellow sofa that is allowed to jump in. Rotating bed in the master bedroom and a slide that dumps you right into the living room:
This house is like a large playground.
– There was a bit of the idea behind the house, all these little discoveries that are there to surprise, tells the architects at Ab Rogers Design, to Bonytt. no.
Over the rainbow
The spiral staircase in the middle of the house is in many ways the core of the design. The steel and fiberglass construction extends through the floors and passes on its way through all the rainbow shades.
Therefore, on each floor it dominates the color spectrum and allows the house to be divided by color scale.
Raibow House is in every way a unique combination of colors, motion and playful elements.
And it was precisely this merger of playground and functional housing the owners were looking for, telling the architects who were put to work.
Living with children should be on children’s principles as much as on adults.
But before it’s completely kindergarten, the architects have also ensured that the house has its adult sides.
Minimalistic luminaires and functional details in the kitchen are tight, yet modern in the house’s colorful surroundings. The master bedroom is kept in white.
The pale yellow sofa, often used for both bouncy castle and family shelter, is grown in its tight design.
