Small town apartments can be challenging to accommodate in terms of space saving. It’s about finding fool and functional solutions. In the converted apartment in Paris, the interior designer has deliberately used colors, lights and glass to create an exciting space feeling.

When the three-year-old awaited a new family member, they had to change the room resolution in their two-story apartment in Paris. The upper floor has two bedrooms and bathrooms, while the lower floor, 47 square meters, consisted of kitchen and living room. Since they wanted to integrate a bedroom downstairs, the family contacted Interior Architect Aude Borromée for help.

The interior designer is known for creative color use in her decor, and she often plays with materials and light to create exciting effects.

– I wanted to change the expression and shape of the room by playing me with stripes, light, transparent surfaces and textures, she says to bonytt. no

The architect emphasized the room feeling and was concerned that the room should not work less after the renovation.

– Sliding doors with integrated glass panels give direct contact with the bedroom, and at the same time a flexible barrier. Due to strange angles, the room has become flexible and original, and the effect of the textures, the glass and the light comes to fruition.

Smart solutions for small rooms

– The same room has now gained more uses, explains Borromée. It works for both cooking, as a living room and as a bedroom. In all of these applications I have allowed three colors to be consistently combined with different textures.

– It is evident through the design of the floor, the custom furniture, the paintings, the translucent glass slabs, the curtains, the colors of the ceiling lamps and the colorful chair backs.
