The back yard inviting the neighborhood.
There is a lot of daring architecture from Asia.
In Japan, among other things, there are many interesting architects and innovative houses.
According to the Great Norwegian Dictionary (SNL), the post-war architecture in Japan is a reflection of the country’s attempt to combine the ever-stronger integration into the Western world with an anchorage in domestic traditions.
In Kanagawa, Japan, this residential complex consists of four one-bedroom apartments built for young artists.
It is the Japanese architectural office Ondesign & Partners that has been responsible for the design.
A residential complex where the backyard has been a very important element and intended to serve as a multi functional area for socialization, work and exhibitions.
The architect office also refers to the backyard as a semi-functional courtyard – and where the threshold for coming into contact with the neighborhood should be low. A neighborhood made up of wooden houses close to the narrow roads between the buildings.
Open and close surfaces
Spectacular Japanese architecture still attracts attention internationally, but it is still the simple Japanese house that has been inspired by the architects. In recent times, no one has reached beyond Tadao Ando in transferring the Japanese romance and formality to a modern language, according to SNL.
Ando is a great source of inspiration for many and has just concentrated all the attention on the interior of the building, where conscious use of open and dense surfaces creates a game of light on concrete surfaces.
