If you purchased at basically dry, it can be destroyed in a few days if exposed to rain and other moisture.
One of the people we have talked to is wood producer Espen Aasvangen. He has some simple tips on how to save.
The main principle is that a dry log will remove moisture from moist environments.
It does not have to mean anything for the burn value, but it makes it harder to ignite.
To save outdoors, start by laying plastic on the ground to avoid moisture below.
Then add two parallel tables that stack your wood.
Then make sure to cover so that the wood is not exposed to rain above, and snow down and down.
The ideal is to store the wood indoors.
Then you should find a place where there is good airing.
The garage is a good place, as there is good air circulation there.
Stable on two parallel tables so that it does not get wet below and preferably to the wall.
Is the wood dry?
When you get the wood delivered, make sure there are no black spots and areas on the kicks , says Rune Østgaard in Norsk Ved.
They should be white and fine.
You can also hit two cubes against each other. Then you will hear a bright sound, which is a sure sign that it’s dry.
Some dealers also have a moisture meter, so the moisture percentage should be around 20 percent.
