How to decorate a functional kitchen
When planning your dream kitchen, start with the most important thing, namely the floor plan. To achieve a functional kitchen to suit your needs, there are three things to keep in mind; space design, workflow and the needs you have in everyday life.

Closed or open solution?
Should you go for a closed or open kitchen? How the room you have at your disposal is, and how the location is in the home, is essential for what solution you should choose.
Many want the kitchen to be a separate room adapted for production and that the activities here must be kept separate. This solution works best when you have plenty of space. Then you have the opportunity to have a functional kitchen decoration and a small dining area.
In smaller homes it may be beneficial to have an open kitchen, perhaps as an integral part of the living room. Then the kitchen will also be a living room where one can be social. You get more room feeling and better flow in the common areas.

Workflow and work triangle
Good workflow and efficient work zones are the key to a successful and functional kitchen.
The work in the kitchen usually takes place around three main areas; sink, refrigerator and stove.
It is important that these workstations are well placed in relation to each other, with a size ratio that makes it convenient for everyday life.
- Make a list of what activities to take place in the kitchen, who will use it and how it works in everyday life, but also the wishes for the future. Pouring up the kitchen is expensive, so solutions that will last for many years.
- Remember the work triangle. The ideal distance from zone to zone is usually 900 mm to 1200 mm.
- The distance between work benches should not be less than 1200 mm and not exceed 1400 mm.
- Small things are rapidly causing great annoyances. Cupboard doors with incorrect straightening, drawers in conflict with an elementary workstation or cornerboard that makes it difficult to find out if you can annoy. Imagine good flow!
- Optimum length of workbench between workstations should be at least 1600 mm, to provide a workplace for two people at the same time.
- The workbench should ideally be placed between the sink and cooktop if possible.
- Cooktop and sink should not be on different sides. It should not be necessary to turn around to lift boilers o. l. from stove to sink.
- The distance between the hob and the sink should be at least 800 mm.
- Recommended distance from the cooktop or wash to the end of the worktop, or the next obstructive element such as wall or refrigerator should not be less than 400 mm.
- Recommended leg length:
- 1-2 people: 3.4 m,
- 3-5 people: 3.8m
- More than 5 people: 5.2m
- Place the dishwasher so it does not block other workstations when open.
- If you plan a kitchen with dining area, this should be placed by a window.
To ensure that the location of the work zones is optimized, we can work out the well-known principle of the labor triangle.
This means that a triangle is formed between the sink, refrigerator and stove. This should not be too big. The ideal distance is usually 900 mm to 1200 mm.
Ensure good storage solutions
Small things are getting great irritation moments. The fact that the contents of the work and storage modules are readily available in your kitchen is important for a good workflow.

This is a solution that provides a good workplace and workflow because the kitchen is almost wrapped around the worker. The solution provides short distances between workstations and best fits in square spaces. It is a perfect solution to a small kitchen where you want a dining table.
In this solution, the entire kitchen interior is placed on a wall. This solution provides good floor space and easy access to all work zones. It assumes good wall space so that there is room for all items, it is also important that you get a good bench space. The distance between the hob and sink should be at least 800 mm. The worktop should ideally be placed between the sink and the stove and be at least 1600 mm, allowing two people to work at the same time.
One-sided kitchen with work island
If you go for an open kitchen facing the living room, a l-shaped or one-sided solution with kitchen island is a good solution. How the final design becomes depends on the space available. It may be advisable to place both sink and cooktop along the wall, making the island a clean and efficient work surface. By retaining these components along the wall, you get a cleaner expression, and the cost of this is less expensive.
Duplex kitchen or parallel kitchen
Parallel kitchen is furnished on two opposite walls. This is a safe and good solution that gives you plenty of storage and bench space. The absence of corner cabinets makes this solution effective. Parallel kitchen should have sink and stove on the same side. It should not be necessary to turn around to lift boilers with boiling water from stove to sink. The distance between the fixed fixture on the opposite walls should be at least 1200 mm and not exceed 1400 mm, so that there is room for example to have the dishwasher open while some work on the opposite side.
